The effectiveness of state in ensuring good governance is an essential prerequisite for sustainable development. Good governance can ensure the exercise of power by various levels of government in an effective, honest, equitable, transparent and accountable manner committed to the rule of law and human rights in a democratic framework.

BRAC University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, established the “Centre for Governance Studies” in 2005, as a pioneering institute in Bangladesh on Governance, offering post-graduate degree and undertaking research in areas of governance and development.
